Anti-marijuana activist Kevin Sabet visited Neuqua Valley to discuss marijuana legalization options. Sabet was the former White House Drug Policy Advisor.
Sabet would prefer to see rehabilitation programs for marijuana dependency and decriminalization take effect, according to NCTV 17 News. Marijuana possession in small amounts was decriminalized in Illinois in 2016. Medical marijuana is legal in the state.
Sabet said, “We have more choices than that and we need to slow down and not imagine that those are our only two choices because if we choose this bright shiny new choice, in this case legalizing pot, it may be very difficult to ever go back.”
The Illinois senate committee is discussing a bill to legalize recreational marijuana.
