IL to Have 3 Town Hall Meetings for Medical Marijuana Program

IL Marijuana Meeting
State officials in Illinois will be holding 3 town hall meetings across the state to address any questions that potential medical marijuana patients, cultivators, and dispensary owners might have.

Buffalo Grove  resident and Multiple Sclerosis patient Maria Levi is planning to apply for her medical marijuana license in order to purchase marijuana legally from dispensaries once they open.  She plans on attending one of the meetings in hopes of gathering more information about what to expect.

Illinois law officials are surmising that qualified patients will be able to purchase marijuana from dispensaries at the start of 2015. They also forbid patients from growing their own marijuana.

Hopeful entrepreneurs are already planning how to get their hands on one of the few coveted cultivation or retail licenses that will be given out at the end of a grueling two-week application processing starting at the beginning of September.

The first of the three town hall meetings will occur in Collinsville this morning, with the second being held on August 18th in Peoria and August 20th in Chicago.
