Buffalo Grove Might Get Medical Marijuana Dispensary

IL Dispensary
Trustees in the northern Chicago suburb of Buffalo Grove are being forced to consider allowing a medical marijuana dispensary to operate in their neighborhood.

Curt Innes, President of Midwest Releaf, explained to the trustees that his operation would be both safe and professional if given the opportunity. Innes said, “We’re not the McDonalds of marijuana. There are a lot of perceptions about this industry that we expect to change by our performance.”

While the boards’ final vote about whether Midwest Releaf will be allowed to operate in Buffalo Grove is still weeks away, Innes is already looking towards the future. He hopes to open in an office space located in a corporate park which is in full compliance with the state laws noting that no medical marijuana facility can operate within 1,000 feet of schools, daycare centers, or homes. While there are many more stipulations that Innes would have to address, he is certainly up to the task. He hopes to serve close to 10 people per hour and will hire security guards to ensure patients’ safety.

Illinois dispensaries are not expected to begin operating until early 2015.
