IL Marijuana Legislation Advances for Minors with Epilepsy

Marijuana Epilepsy Children IL

A bill that would allow not just adults, but minors with epilepsy, to use medical marijuana in Illinois has just gained the approval of a state senate committee and is now one step closer to becoming a law. The bill was presented to the senate on Tuesday and passed without any opposition.

There have been multiple cases recently of epileptic children finding drastic relief from using certain CBD (Cannabidiol) marijuana tinctures. CBD is non-psychoactive chemical that is found in the marijuana plant; unlike, THC which is psychoactive. Basically, it provides relief without actually getting the patient “stoned.”

This is a great step forward for anyone who suffers from epilepsy, as the more traditional medicine prescribed to combat seizures is not only highly addictive, but also leaves the patient feeling “doped out.”
