Trump Signs ‘Right to Try’ Act and It Includes Marijuana

Right to Try Act

On May 30, President Trump signed the “Right to Try Act” into law. With this legislation, those that are terminally ill will have the option of using experimental medications that the FDA hasn’t approved yet, including marijuana.

The new legislation allows doctors to recommend medications for terminally ill patients that have passed at least the first phase of testing, CBS News reports.

Marijuana is currently in the Phase 2 process of clinical trials by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), making it eligible in the Right to Try Act. The stipulation indicates that those wishing to try marijuana have to be at a stage of their illness where death is likely within months.

It is still unclear how it will be determined who has permission to use these experimental drugs and/or marijuana.
