November medical marijuana sales in Illinois surpassed $4.4 million. The Illinois medical marijuana market has grown steadily over the course of the last year. Along with the sales numbers, Illinois also released patient registry numbers.
Illinois now has roughly 13,200 registered medical marijuana patients, according to The News Gazette. The state has also approved 100 adolescents (including teenagers) for medical marijuana. New have also opened, providing have more access to medical marijuana to patients.
Illinois now has 47 licensed medical marijuana dispensaries. Medical marijuana sales began in Illinois on November 9, 2015. The program is set to expire, however, in July 2020. New legislation would have to be introduced before its expiration or the current program would have to be extended or made permanent to prevent patients from going without their medicine.
