Illinois’ Medical Marijuana Sales Surpass $23M Since Launching

Illinois Medical Marijuana Card

Illinois medical marijuana sales reached over $3.8 million in September. Illinois’ medical marijuana program began in November 2015 and, since then, has generated over $23 million in sales.

This is the first time that Illinois is breaking the $20 million mark, reports The State Journal-Register. The patient-base has grown to 11,000. Patients have more access to their medicine as 44 dispensaries are now licensed – many of which are already open.

On the downside, residents that wish to have their medical conditions added to the medical marijuana qualifying conditions list have filed seven lawsuits. Should these lawsuits end favorably for them, the state’s qualifying conditions list could expand, thus opening the door for more patients to have an alternative option for treating their medical conditions.
